Interval Training for Beginners

To get the best from your workouts a combination of easier sessions and interval training is the key.

For our beginner session check out the program below; and as with all exercise get checked out by your doctor first.

Fit Training:

Try adding the following session to your weekly sessions and you’ll get some great results.

Jog or walk to the nearest oval.

When you get there do one lap to warm up followed by a quick lap.

The quick lap should feel hard, but not be flat out.

Jog for half a lap.

Then repeat the hard lap.

The session is basically 400m hard, 200m easy.

On your first try of this session do five sets, and each week add one more until you reach ten.

Try to make the last one, no matter how many it is, as fast as you can while still holding your form.

If you’re getting fit and losing weight by walking, take one of your weekly walks and break it up into 5 minutes walking hard, one minute easy, five hard. Repeat this for as long as you can or half an hour whichever comes first.
