THE GOOD, THE BAD AND THE...I DON'T KNOW!

chocolateinwineglass

A lack of knowledge is part of the reason we struggle to lose weight and get fit. There never seems to be a day go by where a new study is telling us some new way to lose weight. Chocolate is good, red wine is bad, no wait red wine is good...
It can make it impossible to do the right thing. So here are ten simple rules to follow for a healthy life;

1. When it comes to water, drink at least two litres a day
2. Move for more than 30 minutes a day
3. Every second day do some sort of weight, or resistance training
4. Don't smoke
5. Drink in moderation
6. Eat at least two pieces of fruit and five serves of vegetables a day
7. Drink alcohol in moderation
8. Eat junk food rarely
9. Cut back on the sugar you eat
10, Eat more fish.

The benefits of improved brain health means you’ll never forget where you put the car keys, that acquaintance’s name or what you went to the supermarket for!  In the office, it will help you stay sharp, alert all day and help you perform with a competitive edge.

Blueberries have a role to play.  Known as ‘brain berries,’ blueberries are fast earning a reputation as one of nature’s super foods thanks to their high level of antioxidants.

12BarVariety Pack_side_CR
Up until now, there’s been confusion in the muesli bar aisle with Carman’s dedicated fans having to choose between Carman’s muesli bar varieties. Dad likes the Classic Fruit, Mum’s more of an Apricot & Almond fan and the kids prefer Original Fruit-Free. So Carman’s, makers of Australia’s number one selling muesli, has solved the battle of Australian families and released Carman’s 12 Bar Variety Pack.

Fit Fact

600px-Green_tick.svg

To achieve a weight loss of one kilogram a week you need to burn approximately 37,000 kilojoules more than you consume.

Running slows aging
Everyone wants to live longer, and running has been proven to fight the effects of ageing.
The body often looses bone and muscle strength with age, and running has been shown to prevent that.
In some ways, your bones are just like muscles. If you don't put them under any stress they become weaker, but if you stress them they respond.
Regular high-intensity exercise, including running, has also been proven to promote the human growth hormone.

Fit Myth

RedcrossYou need to get into the fat burning zone.
Not true, the harder you work the more energy you burn.
Many people believe that if you walk the body burns more fat than sugars, this is just plain incorrect.
For example if you walk for an hour at 4-5kph you will burn 1539 kilojoules, if you run for the same time period at five minutes per km you'll burn about 4400kjs.
